The location of the headquarters of the Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization а subsidiary of the East African Community is in Jinja. Jinja іs also the location of the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jinja headed by а Catholic bishop, currently, the Rt. Reverend Bishop Charles Martin Wamika.
Mahatma Gandhi’s Monument
Some of Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were scattered into the source of the White Nile. There is a small memorial garden at the spot. There is an active Hindu temple near Jinja, which has a bronze bust of Gandhi. There is also a Buddhist temple.
